Photo Booths, Art & Andy Warhol

Did you know that the incomparable Andy Warhol used photo booth photos to create his candy coloured pop art?  The iconic portraiture photography and silk screen print combination was so revolutionary, many in the art world dubbed it “art’s most radical change since cubism.”

We like to think that when our photo booth’s are at your event, we’re creating little works of art of you and your guests. The autonomous nature of the photo booth that fascinated Warhol is the exact concept that we know produces our amazing photos – people will never do for a photographer what they do for our booth!

It’s a beautiful thing that in the age of the digital photo, your guests can have  an instant, tactile photo strip; often ending up in wallets and on fridges for years.

When we finish at your event, you receive a custom Photobooth Fun USB with all your 4-photo strips as well as a high resolution copy of every “single” photo taken. This means, if there is a photo that you just love, love, love among your photo strips, you’ll be able to enlarge and print these in fantastic quality.

Being the Regional Manager for Hawkes Bay, co-ordinating and working at awesome events and celebrations in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the greater Hawkes Bay area (even in Taupo, Palmerston North, Gisborne and beyond) is so much fun! This is a question we get asked quite a bit, usually by people wanting to fit like 5 or 6 people in. Usually we laugh at this as, being a Nationwide company, it is the source of a fair bit of competition around the country.

So how many do you think..? is it 8..? nah that’s easy… T131006-501what about 9..?IMG_0273or 10 maybe..?IMG_0484Actually given that all 3 of these shots were taken at the Gymsports National Championships this month in Hawkes Bay I’d say that’s getting pretty easy too.

The record up until this weekend was 13 set in the Hawkes Bay Booth last year (and I believe equalled in other regions since) I say up until this weekend because I believe this one taken in Hastings last night smashes it out of the park!T131019-501I’ll leave the counting to you but I have to say it’s a pretty impressive effort and once again set in the Hawkes Bay booth. Did you know our photobooths can travel?

Yep “Big Red” aka Elmo, jumps on a Mainfreight truck most weeks getting between our Regions in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Christchurch covering all the events we might not otherwise have been able to do without him.

So even if you’re thinking about last-minute bookings, don’t hesitate to contact Suze in our administration department with your enquiry.  Suze has a background in the travel industry so she has no trouble creating an itinerary for Big Red.  He’s been all over New Zealand so maybe the next event he’s at will be yours.

We love Big Red as he’s been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki with us.  He’s been to school balls, corporate functions, weddings, birthdays, engagements and hen and bachelor parties.

He’s a super-hero in our Photobooth Fun team!

Speaking of our super heroes…here’s our super-groom Jonathan from this weekend’s gig.  Congratulations to Jonathan who married his own Lois Lane (Kelli-Brooke) this weekend.

Moving (but still grooving!) in Auckland …

Well, summer has well and truly left us now, and with that we have also seen some changes to the Auckland Photo Booth Fun crew.  We recently bid a sad farewell to Eden who had been the Auckland Regional Manager since October 2010 (with his very first gig being a crazy Halloween party!!).  Eden is taking on an exciting DIY project, as he begins renovations to his new home – and we cant wait to see the finished product!!.  All is not lost however, as his lovely wife Suze is still with us, and continues to be the friendly voice at the end of the phone/email when you make your bookings with us.

We have also added 3 awesome operators to our ever-growing team – a fab group of people who are ready to make any gig extra special with their smiling faces and great senses of humour!

Weddings & 21st birthday parties seem to be the flavour of the month for Auckland at the moment.  A big congratulations to Alan & Rochelle and Steve & Danni who got married recently, and also to Jaishree and Annelle who celebrated their 21st birthdays (just to name a few!!).

We are so excited about our new role with Photo Booth Fun and are looking forward to the exciting times ahead.  We are honoured to be part of some fantastic upcoming charity events  – Westpac Chopper Appeal auction and the Ronald McDonald House mid year Christmas party.  Its so great to be involved in some really good causes and we will update you on how these go over the coming months.

What a busy month we’ve had…..

…..here in the City of Sails!

April always means the Grand Wedding Show which is a fabulous day out for brides and their friends and once again we met hundreds of people super excited about our fabulous photo booth, top quality photo strips and wonderfully friendly staff (we’re not modest at all!!)

We also met some awesome folk at Convene – these scary looking guys are from First Scene in Kingsland – New Zealand’s largest prop and costume hire company!!

     

We recently attended the Senior College of New Zealand Ball Show with Astra Bridal.  Astra Bridal have some amazing gowns so check out their website for the latest in ball gown fashion.

If this young lady becomes NZs next top model we’d like you all to know that we spotted her first!!

Of course school ball season is almost upon us and there is still time to book our school ball package – just email info@photoboothfun.co.nz with your school ball date and we’ll see what we can do!

Don’t forget we also do awesome birthday parties, weddings and corporate functions – whatever you need we are happy to provide.

We are also super excited about the changes to the marriage law – we’ve done a few Civil Unions in the past so some more weddings would be wonderful – and how cool was Maurice Williamson?!!

We deliver – New Zealand wide!

Wedding season is in full swing, and the Waikato must be popular, as this month the Waikato and Bay of Plenty PBF team had the honour of attending our Auckland and Tauranga wedding expo prize winner’s receptions.

Firstly a great night with Chris & Gemma, our Tauranga wedding expo winners, at their Blonde Restaurant reception in Whitianga.

And the next day we had a fun, boisterous (and did I mention FUN) bunch of Aucklanders and South Africans for Royden and Louise’s pre wedding reception drinks at the amazing Ag Heritage Village at Mystery Creek.

 

Remember that the Waikato and Bay of Plenty team are part of a national group of fun and zany photo booth professionals. Our booth will be shipped to Queenstown for a weekend of bookings later this month, and next month we’ll be on the road for an event in Hawera.  So no matter where you are in New Zealand, as long as there is power supply and trolley access, if you want to book a booth for your event we can be there!

What an exciting few weeks it has been in Auckland!

Word has spread in the corporate sector that a booth from Photo Booth Fun is a great addition to any function so we’ve been busy helping out some awesome companies!  We joined Lion Nathan at their awards night, Zambesi when they launched their new range of eyewear, Typo when they opened their new store in Queen Street and the NZ Recreation Association who organise the annual Just Add Water event.  We also joined the Bunnings Warehouse team as they celebrated the Glenfield stores’ first birthday and we had a wicked time with the teens at the Auckland Library on Saturday for their Fuse Party!

Dilworth School for Boys and Hebron Christian College enjoyed a photo booth at their school ball and we attended functions at two of Auckland’s coolest venues – The Floating Pavilion played host to Catherine & San’s wedding and Alice had an awesome 30th party at the Old Elephant House at Auckland Zoo!!

If you are thinking about hiring us for your upcoming wedding then come and visit our stand at The Grand Wedding Show, Level 4 + 5, Sky City Convention Centre from 9am to 4pm on Sunday 16 September.  As always we’ll be taking heaps of photos and giving away an awesome prize!

FUNdraising in the Waikato and BOP

 The Waikato and The Bay Of Plenty have been full on with more expo’s and training up new staff for a super busy wedding season…

Firstly our new kid on the block Mustafa helped the Bay of Plenty Polytech create a huge buzz at the Bay of Plenty Careers Expo (TECT Arena, Baypark) and then our other newbie, Joe in Hamilton, showed the kids how it’s done with Waikato Institute of Technology Open Day at the Atrium, Wintec.  Throw in some mid-winter weddings and corporate events and wowwee!

Sunday saw the Photo Booth Fun team supporting the Bride’s Tea Party at Sarnia Park Botique Lodge – a fantastic afternoon showing off our booth to more Waikato brides while fundraising for Endometriosis New Zealand. Really stoked that our $590 donated photo booth hire raised $220 in the silent auction. And if you’re in Auckland and think you’ve missed out, make sure you and your girlfriends reserve the night of Wednesday, 3rd October, for an Evening of Glitz & Glamour and another fantastic fundraiser at Orakei Bay.
