Backdrop love – making it your own

We love the fact that our photo booths have a curtain that you can hide behind and get all crazy… but the fun doesn’t have to stop there!

For the more adventurous posers out there the curtain can be flung back to reveal all – posing with an audience can be just as fun! While a blank wall can be nice, a bit of DIY can take you booth experience up a notch – if you can fancy up the wall behind you or even find a fun and interesting wall you can give your guests the option to stay behind the curtain or have photos with a unique back drop or both!  – You can even add something to the existing curtain to make it your own – like Sam did for his Indian themed 50th, goodbye black curtain and hello blue sari.

This idea really got us thinking so off we went to search for some fun and different ideas that could inspire a curtain alternative …. remember you can keep the curtain on while still having a fabulous background on standby … we love what we found….have a look at these beauties and let your imagination go, we would love to see what you come up with!

Flying through time with Photo Booth Fun

We often have people say things to us like “oh wow a photo booth – they really are the latest craze aren’t they” – and while they are very popular in 2015 did you know they date back a LONG way – a seriously long way! They first hit the world long before Hair dryers, band aids, instant coffee and even before the first plane took off!

To find out where the photo booth journey really starts we need to fly back in time, way back to the year 1888. In 1888 there were two man who were clearly born before their time who first came up with the idea of an automated photography machine. Unfortunately for Mr William Pope and Mr Edward Pope there newly patented invention was never actually made –  but what a fabulous idea it was and this is where the photo booth story begins.

Fast forward a few years to 1889 and the Paris World Fair and meet another couple of clever thinking gentlemen, Mr T. E. Enjalbert and German Photographer Mathew Steffens. Now these two were more than just ideas men and they presented the very first working photo booth – which was very cool but unfortunately it wasn’t overly reliable (unlike our VERY reliable Photo Booth Fun booths) so that was really the end of that!

Now if we fast forward another couple of years we meet German inventor Conrad Bernitt and this dude was really onto it. He created the first ever commercially successful photo booth, producing ferrotypes, he went on to name this marvelous invention “Bosco”…I really think it is one cool looking piece of machinery!

The next clever guy in photo booth history was Carl Sasse who in 1896 thought up and produced the first machine to produce images using the negative and positive process which was a bit of a major and led on to the beginning of the photo booth craze in the 1920s! From that point on photo booths started popping up across the world – providing hours of entertainment for generations!

So there you have it! Photo Booths – the latest craze since 1923!  92 years ago – that’s not bad going for a craze!

There is something so exciting about repeat bookings! We love that we get to attend your events each year – it is always so nice to see you again!

Obviously repeat weddings wouldn’t be ideal, after all you aim to do those just the one time BUT school balls and corporate events are a different story! It really is the greatest compliment to ask us back for another of your events and it sure makes us feel all loved! A couple of weeks ago the Taranaki Team headed back to do another SHGC ball and like always it was an awesome evening! It seems people can just never have enough of Photo Booth Fun!

Thank-you for remembering us and our booth each time you plan your events, we can’t wait for the repeat Christmas bookings! If you haven’t had one of our booths before … well why not? Well it is almost ‘Taranaki Autumn Ball’ time in the Naki!

Tickets sold out in just 2 weeks it was CRAZY and we know there are a lot of Taranaki people out there that are absolutely gutted that they missed out…..well it turns out we have 2 of the very last tickets! and we want to give them away to one of you!

Photo Booth Fun will be at the DMan Taranaki Autumn Ball with one of our beautiful booths – we are so excited! The booth photos will be stunning with everyone in their formal wear looking like A List stars! Our booths give you an awesome way to capture yourself looking all glam and lets face it… it is a lot more fun than the old formal photo thing!

It’s Ball time in Taranaki!

This is going to be awesome!

Photo Booth Fun will be hitting the Taranaki Autumn Ball in May and we can’t wait! It turns out 350 other people were equally excited and snapped up all the tickets within the first few weeks of sale! We hope if you are in The Naki that you got your tickets nice and early but if you didn’t then don’t stress because we can come to your next event! We can’t think of an event that our booths wouldn’t be perfect for – if you are hosting guests then chances are  a Photo Booth Fun booth would be the perfect way to keep your guests laughing!

We were stoked to be involved with a heap of you last ball season and would love to bring our booth along this year too. We love everything about ball season – The dresses, the suits, the music, the photos… the crazy dance moves… we love it all! Keeping secrets can be hard, especially when they are about something really exciting! And keeping secrets is exactly what the Taranaki team have been doing BUT the time is almost here to reveal all!

We are super excited to be involved with one of the coolest events to hit the Naki …. ever…. can you guess???

Speaking of secrets, did you know one of the coolest surprises to keep secret for your event is one of our Booths! We often take bookings from brides, grooms, event planners, birthday boys and girls (the list goes on) that organise a Photo Booth Fun booth for their event but say “don’t tell anyone because this is going to be the best surprise ever” And it rally is! Nothing like having something to surprise your guests with to make you event even more special.

See keeping secrets might be hard but with us it is super FUN too!

Hello 2015 and Hello Wedding Season!

Everybody loves a good wedding and here at Photo Booth Fun we really really love a good wedding! What’s not to love? a beautiful bride in an amazing gown, pretty flowers, guests who travel from near and far to party with you, tasty drinks and cake (never forget the cake)!

But what we really love about weddings (even more than the cake) is watching the smiles and cheeky glances of the booth goers! You just can’t beat listening to the uncontrollable laughter coming from our booths when that curtain closes and the first flash fires! We don’t always know what is going on behind that curtain but it sure sounds amazing… after all we all know that people do the funniest thing’s when they think no one’s watching!

Sold on getting one of our booths for your wedding yet? Well what if we told you that you (as the hirer) will get to keep the evidence forever on a USB – think of the fun you can have long after the booth is gone! Now I KNOW you are sold on the idea and we can’t wait to hear from you!

2014 – We have had a BLAST!

2014 Where did you go? Time sure flies when you are having fun!

Our Taranaki team have had an AMAZING year! Sneaking into the photo booth at MANY events while hanging out with some very cool people!

From Brides to Mud Runners, Babies to 85 year olds and Charity events to major functions with everything in between! January to December we just haven’t stopped and neither have the laughs, smiles and crazy poses! There are days we ask ourselves “how can this be work”? Seriously the booth is too much fun to be work!

Thanks Taranaki – you awesome people you!

Bring on 2015! Give us a call to get one of our super fun booths along to your next event! We can’t wait!

When our photo booth decided to get dressed up…

We all like to get dressed up and look good for special occasions and the Taranaki photo booth is no different! Even though our photo booths are some of the prettiest around the Naki booth decided to go all out for the recent le Diner en Blanc here in New Plymouth and go for a slightly different look for the evening….

I hear you asking “but what is the le Diner en Blanc that you speak of” well quiet simply it is a lot of white! White on white on white! A rather fancy occasion with lots of fun little quirks that make it what it is – an incredible night out! There are a number of rules for partaking but the number one rule is EVERYTHING must be WHITE! This posed one teeny tiny problem for our booth …. our booth is … well…. It’s dark brown! Not one to step back from a challenge the Taranaki booth agreed to undergo a bit of a  transformation…along came some magical sewing elves … otherwise known as Tarsh (one of the Taranaki booth operators) and Jordan (one of the Taranaki regional managers) …what happened next was nothing short of AMAZING!

I will let the photos tell the story but basically what followed was a number of late, very late nights (or early mornings hard to tell??) and about 100 cups of coffee…but the end result was a beautiful, elegant and totally WHITE photo booth – roof and all!

Meet Brian and Clara – they have been married 60 years, they are 81 and 85 years old, and live happily in Taranaki. For their Diamond Wedding Anniversary there was one thing they wanted at their celebratory dinner … that’s right a Photo Booth Fun photo booth!

Never too Old!

Not only did they have A LOT of fun posing for the camera but they took the opportunity to get some new photos for the wall while they were at it! You see here at PBF you get to keep a USB full of all your hi-res booth photos, perfect for framing, popping in an album or if that’s not your thing there is always the option of blackmail with some of those more … “special” photos!

You are never too old to have fun and you are certainly never too old to get all propped up and smile for the camera in one of our booths. Sure you could opt to have a low key afternoon tea with scones and jam  to celebrate special occasions as you get that little bit older OR you could do what Brian and Clara did and ignore the stereotypes of getting older an get one of our booths and a friendly operator along! Our Booths are perfect for all occasions,ages and events…so next time are thinking of throwing a little shindig or family get together make sure you give us a call!
