Being the Regional Manager for Hawkes Bay, co-ordinating and working at awesome events and celebrations in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the greater Hawkes Bay area (even in Taupo, Palmerston North, Gisborne and beyond) is so much fun! A veteran client pointed this out the other night – every third frame in a 4 frame strip with a couple has them kissing. At Photobooth Fun we thought we’d bring a bit of rigorous science to bear and so we checked some of our recent gigs and she was right!

Whether its a family kiss, a romantic kiss or a friendly one it takes until the third frame for people to get up the courage to do what they’ve secretly been wanting to do from the moment they stepped in the booth – plant a kiss on someone!

Rubbish you say!

Well the proof’s in the pudding (Christmas pudding at this time of the year). Why don’t you call us up, hire a booth and put the science to the test.

And get a smooch or two while you are at it!


How many people can you fit in the Photo Booth..?

This is a question we get asked quite a bit, usually by people wanting to fit like 5 or 6 people in. Usually we laugh at this as, being a Nationwide company, it is the source of a fair bit of competition around the country.

So how many do you think..? is it 8..? nah that’s easy… T131006-501what about 9..?IMG_0273or 10 maybe..?IMG_0484Actually given that all 3 of these shots were taken at the Gymsports National Championships this month in Hawkes Bay I’d say that’s getting pretty easy too.

The record up until this weekend was 13 set in the Hawkes Bay Booth last year (and I believe equalled in other regions since) I say up until this weekend because I believe this one taken in Hastings last night smashes it out of the park!T131019-501I’ll leave the counting to you but I have to say it’s a pretty impressive effort and once again set in the Hawkes Bay booth. If at first you don’t succeed

Lots of folk love the Photobooth! It attracts the exhibitionists and, eventually, it attracts the introverts. There’s just something about the fun of pulling the curtain and posing for the camera that people can’t resist.

The Phoobooth also attracts the perfectionists from time to time. Standing next to the Booth you get to watch the vast majority of folks duck inside and wing it in front of the camera. It’s the spontaneity that leads to all the shrieks of laughter coming from inside the curtain.

But occasionally there are those who like to plan. Sometimes you hear them planning a series of poses with a friend in the line to use the booth. Sometimes you hear them plotting inside the booth and every once in a while you see them doing practise shots before they go inside. A quick couple of selfies on a smartphone can really help those perfectionists work out the best poses to maximise their fun, good looks or the message they’re trying to send with the picture. You see a pair snapping away, come along to the Booth and duck inside. There’s still the same happy laughter but the shots are juuuuuust right.

It takes all kinds of people.

And all kinds of people love the Photobooth.

Did you know our photobooths can travel?

Yep “Big Red” aka Elmo, jumps on a Mainfreight truck most weeks getting between our Regions in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Christchurch covering all the events we might not otherwise have been able to do without him.

So even if you’re thinking about last-minute bookings, don’t hesitate to contact Suze in our administration department with your enquiry.  Suze has a background in the travel industry so she has no trouble creating an itinerary for Big Red.  He’s been all over New Zealand so maybe the next event he’s at will be yours.

We love Big Red as he’s been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki with us.  He’s been to school balls, corporate functions, weddings, birthdays, engagements and hen and bachelor parties.

He’s a super-hero in our Photobooth Fun team!

Speaking of our super heroes…here’s our super-groom Jonathan from this weekend’s gig.  Congratulations to Jonathan who married his own Lois Lane (Kelli-Brooke) this weekend.

Say hello winter Wellington

Well that’s it, it’s officially Winter here in The Middle of Middle Earth and as we bid a fond farewell to the sun for another year we can also look back over the absolute bumper season we’ve had!

Here’s some quick stats for you…

So we’re looking forward to a winter full of birthdays, parties, corporate events and the odd festival, like Armageddon which is on this weekend. We’ll be there with Media Design School all Queens Birthday Weekend.

All Kinds of Happenings in Wellington

It’s been a busy busy time for Photo Booth Fun in the world’s coolest little capital.

With the weather being a record-breaking amazing, everyone is getting out and about.  There have been lots of fantastic fairs and expos on and Photo Booth Fun has been there to capture the joy.

We had a blast by the seaside at the Island bay Festival where Photo Booth Fun teamed up with the fantastic Costume Cave. Festival goers were able to dress up in an amazing selection 1920’s and 30’s costumes and get their photo taken in the booth. Loads of Fun!! Have a look!!

20130127_150825At the North City Wedding Expo in Porirua we got to meet so many lovely ‘about to be newly-weds’ . Nothing like a sunny day and lots of loved up couples to make you feel all sentimental. I hope that everyone who wanted to try out the photo booth managed to. Photo Booth Fun was a hit at the St Anthony’s school Bazaar in Seatoun. Kids just love hanging out in the photobooth and for us it is always so much fun to be outside in the sunshine with so many happy people.IMG_0139

Phwor, I can’t believe how long it’s been since we had an update from the Wellington team. I know we’ve been busy but the time has just flown by! Here’s a few highlights of the past few months:

Life Flight Open Day

We work with quite a few charity organisations (Child Cancer, Lifeline, Ronald McDonald House and Sustainable Coastlines to name a few) and the open day at the Wellington Life Flight hangar was just great fun. They raised a heap of money for their new plane, which was decorated by the talented team at Weta Workshop!

How cool does that backdrop look? We can organise these for your event as well.

Red Bull Sounds Like Sunday

Red Bull know how to party and they also know how to thank the people that sell their product to the masses, the guys and girls on the front line in the bars and clubs.

Sounds like Sunday is a work free night off for all the hospo workers in Wellington and we were there to help with the fun.

As always, the booth went off and the provided props were certainly a hit. Red and blue were the colours of the night and our intrepid attendant John was a bit BLACK and blue by the end. Too much fun.

Show Me Wellington – Corporate Events Expo

Corporate events are a huge amount of our business, we just love meeting new organisations to work with and the Show Me Wellington expo was a great place to do it.

Events co-ordinators and social club members were in and out of our Blue Booth all day, throwing on some props and making the most of it. We shmoozed and networked up a storm, even taking a couple of bookings on the spot!

The expo attracted people from all over the country which was great for us as we’re NATIONWIDE!

Now one of our most requested options is the custom strip design and we really love doing them, it lets us stretch our creative legs a little. Here’s some recent examples we’ve done:

Helping to end child slavery and BIG balloons!

The Photo Booth Fun team have been busy in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty helping to celebrate heaps of Weddings and Birthdays.  Nationally we’ve been getting out and about supporting some awesome charities too…

Ecpat – Child Alert
While we have lots of fun at Photo Booth Fun we also like to support worthwhile causes like Star Ship and the Child Cancer Foundation. Over the past few weeks our national network of photo booth operators have helped www.ecpat.org.nz and their ‘Don’t Sweep it Under the Rug’ uni tour, to spread their message of ending the commercial sexual exploitation of children in New Zealand and around the world. The tour passed through Auckland’s AUT, Wellington’s Victoria University, Palmerston North’s Massey University, Canterbury University in Christchurch and Dunedin’s Otago University, and finished up at Waikato University; we were stoked with the response from our uni students.
