Being the Regional Manager for Hawkes Bay, co-ordinating and working at awesome events and celebrations in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the greater Hawkes Bay area (even in Taupo, Palmerston North, Gisborne and beyond) is so much fun! But I have to say, one of my favourite jobs I do for the Photo Booth Fun team is designing the custom overlays;overlay-Ball-1taking the designs and ideas that you’ve worked on for your wedding or party or corporate eventoverlay-Comm-1and designing a strip look to match or compliment those ideas so your event is even more awesome. overlay-wed-2So I thought I’d take some of my favourite designs from last yearoverlay-Corp-1and put them together in a gallery to give you some ideas of what we can do and maybe inspire youoverlay-Corp-2for your event this year to enhance your Photo Booth Fun booking with a custom strip design.overlay-Party-1Take a closer look on our Facebook Gallery here  overlay-wed-1  Now let me know what I can do for you..

Waikato, Bay of Plenty & Taranaki….we’ve got you covered!

Did you know our photobooths can travel?

Yep “Big Red” aka Elmo, jumps on a Mainfreight truck most weeks getting between our Regions in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Christchurch covering all the events we might not otherwise have been able to do without him.

So even if you’re thinking about last-minute bookings, don’t hesitate to contact Suze in our administration department with your enquiry.  Suze has a background in the travel industry so she has no trouble creating an itinerary for Big Red.  He’s been all over New Zealand so maybe the next event he’s at will be yours.

We love Big Red as he’s been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki with us.  He’s been to school balls, corporate functions, weddings, birthdays, engagements and hen and bachelor parties.

He’s a super-hero in our Photobooth Fun team!

Speaking of our super heroes…here’s our super-groom Jonathan from this weekend’s gig.  Congratulations to Jonathan who married his own Lois Lane (Kelli-Brooke) this weekend.

Classic meets contemporary – We have the perfect mix.

Like the other Photo Booth Fun regions, we’re well into school ball season here in Christchurch – Watching the younger generation bursting to collect their prints, I got to thinking about how long it used to take in the old days and how much less conducive to the non-stop fun of our booth experience that would be.

Photobooth hire Christchurch

Did you know that the modern concept of the photo booth appeared in 1925 in New York City and using film processing, took about 10 minutes per photo! That’s about ten times slower than our booths!

The classic photo booths we see in a lot of films and which were popular in the 20th century used a chemical bath process to develop the special photo paper (nope, nothing digital in those days!) and took about 3 – 5 minutes. Even after the photos had popped out, eager users had to wait a few minutes while the solution dried before they could even touch their prints.. Argh, the anticipation! To allow it to be so speedy (yes, in those days, 5 minutes was nothing!), there were no negatives created (for all you young folk, the modern day equivalent is the digital image file!) so the photos really were a one off memento.

Christchurch Photobooth Hire

These traditional booths are few and far between nowadays and although they’re a great bit of nostalgia, we think we’ve created the perfect mix of classic photo booth meets modern technology. There are a number of reasons why the Photo Booth Fun experience is so good:

  • With a beaut vintage appearance, the classic charm of the photo booth is there but the waiting is not! Our photo strips are ready to collect (no waiting for prints to dry here folks) in only 40 seconds – But the shorter waiting time has not compromised the quality of our photos – A big differentiating point between various booths you might come across nowadays is the caliber of the images. We pride ourselves on the fantastic quality of our photos, in both the printed strips and the digital files the customer keeps.
  • Our photobooths are not restricted only to those venues that can fit a large old-school booth through their doors, they’re easily transportable and quick to assemble so we can go just about anywhere – Yep, we’ve been on boats, balconies, in pools (yes, only when empty!), in paddocks, up mountains, up trees.. ok,, ok I got a bit carried away at the end there but theoretically, if you had a platform up a tree, we could do it!.
  • And finally, our booth’s design means you’re not limited to only a couple of people at once; whether it’s two people or ten, you’ll get a fantastic (and possibly hilarious) shot and we love seeing people attempting to break the record amount of fourteen – We’ve come close here in the South Island but have yet to beat it!

School Ball Photo Booth Fun in Hawkes Bay

Well we’re well and truly into School Ball Season here in the Sunny (even if it’s getting a little colder) Hawkes Bay! Here’s a few images from the Taradale High School Viva Las Vegas themed ball held at the Rodney Green Events Centre in Napier on Saturday, I especially love it when the staff really get in on the act… THS-2

All in all some gorgeous gowns, smart suits, and lots of Photo Booth Fun had by all! Check out the rest of the photos from the Gallery tab above.

Don’t forget if you’re going to a School Ball in Napier, Hastings or anywhere in the greater Hawkes Bay area for that matter and the ball committee haven’t got a Photobooth booked yet make sure they contact us now so you don’t miss out! We’ll bring the fun with us, you can guarantee that.

And just for a bit of extra silliness for the day…What happens

Of course, School Balls aren’t all we do, whether it’s a conference, corporate event, awards ceremony or wedding; whether you’re just wanting to add some fun to the event or some marketing mileage, or even fund raising for a charity; Life’s too short for boring events so get a Photo Booth in there and let the fun begin… because people do the funniest things when they think no-one’s watching!

How Long Did That Take?

We’ve had an amazing summer witnessing marriages, people celebrating their age, Balloons Over Waikato, expos and School Balls. We’ve been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki. We’ve set up the booth in barns, in tents, on a boat, in gardens and under trees. We’ve looked up to mountains, across lakes, over hills and out to the ocean. Now as the leaves take on their autumnal colours, and winter looms around the seasonal corner, one starts to feel like slowing down.

So on a rainy day; snuggled up and watching the original Karate Kid, we were amused to see a Photo Booth (circa 1980’s). Then we were horrified to see it took 4 1/2 whole minutes for the photo strips to print!
All I can say is thank goodness we’ve shaved a good 3+ minutes off that! A reduction of 1 minute every decade is certainly not the greatest feat in technology but it sure means a lot to us here at Photobooth Fun.

So here’s the shot to prove how patient we were back in the 80’s and a reminder of why Ralph Macchio was such a babe in his day…

…..here in the City of Sails!

April always means the Grand Wedding Show which is a fabulous day out for brides and their friends and once again we met hundreds of people super excited about our fabulous photo booth, top quality photo strips and wonderfully friendly staff (we’re not modest at all!!)

We also met some awesome folk at Convene – these scary looking guys are from First Scene in Kingsland – New Zealand’s largest prop and costume hire company!!

We recently attended the Senior College of New Zealand Ball Show with Astra Bridal.  Astra Bridal have some amazing gowns so check out their website for the latest in ball gown fashion.

If this young lady becomes NZs next top model we’d like you all to know that we spotted her first!!

Of course school ball season is almost upon us and there is still time to book our school ball package – just email info@photoboothfun.co.nz with your school ball date and we’ll see what we can do!

Don’t forget we also do awesome birthday parties, weddings and corporate functions – whatever you need we are happy to provide.

We are also super excited about the changes to the marriage law – we’ve done a few Civil Unions in the past so some more weddings would be wonderful – and how cool was Maurice Williamson?!!

Proud to be Kiwis, we are!!

The latest from Christchurch

It’s been a month of variety here in Christchurch; the warmer months are always a busy time for weddings but that doesn’t mean we can’t fit other events in as well! The start of March saw us at the Twilight Vintage Market held at the Pallet Pavillion – Another fantastic Gap Filler project and one I’ll be sad to see go. Hopefully we will be back at the Twilight Market before the end of April so keep an eye out.

We had a great day at Orana Park for the Radio Network’s 2013 Family Day – It’s pretty amazing being set up in amongst all the animals – I’m pretty sure the monkeys were hoping for a turn to pose but the booth ran non-stop with all the family fun so there was no chance for them!

I love seeing the season change from summer to autumn in Christchurch – The colours are just spectacular everywhere you look.  Of course it does go hand in hand with a drop in temperature which is definitely kicking in now. Brrrrr! Although, I don’t know about you but I think I’ve almost been looking forward to some wintery weather – A nice excuse to cosy up on the couch with a DVD or two.  And of course, the arrival of autumn doesn’t mean an end to the fun; celebrations aren’t limited to the summer months (thankfully!). In fact, school ball season will be upon us before you know it and we’re booking up fast so get in touch if you want to be part of the fun! We have a great school ball package available and also have some good ideas for fundraising if you need a little extra help to achieve a super memorable night!  Just get in touch with us at christchurch@photoboothfun.co.nz to find out how we can help.

On Sunday the 14th April, we’ll be at the Great New Zealand Bridal Show, the South Island’s largest wedding show. It’s an excellent chance to talk to professionals and get ideas for your perfect day – Come and see us, have a turn in the booth and check out our special expo offer – Hope to see you there!

Stay warm!

Christchurch – A look back at 2012

Wow, hard to believe it’s a new year already! It’s been such a great experience so far in Christchurch, bring on the fun for 2013!

We saw all manner of events throughout 2012 and enjoyed them all: School balls, product launches, graduation celebrations, Halloween festivities, company parties, jubilees, orientation madness, conferences and Christmas parties.. Phew!

Not to mention the many birthday celebrations, from 21sts to 90ths and most milestones in between. The photo booth is such a great way to add that extra something to your party – Even the most sceptical party goers are addicts by the night’s end (with a fat wad of photo strips in their pocket to keep for later laughs!).

And of course, we’ve had lots of wonderful weddings at some amazing venues around Canterbury – There’s been some spectacular scenery so far and I look forward to seeing more this year – And not only Canterbury; we’ve got a lot of trips to look forward to this summer, taking our fun along to weddings in Otago and all over the South Island. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing the laughing faces of guests spilling from the booth, redoubling their mirth when they see the printed strip – It’s excellent!

One of the real privileges for me so far has been being able to be part of some of the fantastic local events that are helping to lift the spirits and keep the people and communities of Christchurch going. There’s such an effort to not just keep on keeping on but to get out and really enjoy what’s on offer, it’s very inspiring.

Fundraisers have also been hugely rewarding for the Canterbury team and I hope we can continue to help bring some fun and funds to some more worthwhile causes throughout 2013. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have a fundraiser you’d like some help with, we’re always keen to get involved!

Here’s to another fun and fabulous year with the Christchurch Photo Booth Fun team!

Cheers

Michaela

What an exciting few weeks it has been in Auckland!

Word has spread in the corporate sector that a booth from Photo Booth Fun is a great addition to any function so we’ve been busy helping out some awesome companies!  We joined Lion Nathan at their awards night, Zambesi when they launched their new range of eyewear, Typo when they opened their new store in Queen Street and the NZ Recreation Association who organise the annual Just Add Water event.  We also joined the Bunnings Warehouse team as they celebrated the Glenfield stores’ first birthday and we had a wicked time with the teens at the Auckland Library on Saturday for their Fuse Party!

Dilworth School for Boys and Hebron Christian College enjoyed a photo booth at their school ball and we attended functions at two of Auckland’s coolest venues – The Floating Pavilion played host to Catherine & San’s wedding and Alice had an awesome 30th party at the Old Elephant House at Auckland Zoo!!

If you are thinking about hiring us for your upcoming wedding then come and visit our stand at The Grand Wedding Show, Level 4 + 5, Sky City Convention Centre from 9am to 4pm on Sunday 16 September.  As always we’ll be taking heaps of photos and giving away an awesome prize!

Now is also the time to be thinking about booking your Christmas Party booth to avoid disappointment as December is filling up fast!  Email your Christmas Party details to Suze at info@photoboothfun.co.nz, we’d love to join you in celebrating!!

Once again we were invited to join the London Hard House Reunion at Studio on K Road – these guys know how to party!!

Brrrrrrr from Christchurch.

Well here in Christchurch we’ve been welcomed into winter in no uncertain terms! The snow hit and we’ve been wrapping up and staying indoors (except when building the odd snowman of course).

We’ve also welcomed the start of the school ball season and kicked off with a carnival themed ball at Mount Hutt College in Methven – Clowns riding tiny bikes, stilt walkers, palm readers and of course, Photo Booth Fun – It really was a night to remember – Some fantastic organization from the MHC school ball committee!

If you’re planning your school ball, we can bring that extra something to make it memorable and oh so fun! Our team in Auckland have come up with some cool ideas about how to help you raise the funds and have kindly shared the love with me way down here in Chch, so get in touch if you’d like to know more.

We always love getting on board with fundraisers and another fun thing we did last month was join Mondo Travel Riccarton for their In the Pink afternoon tea – A fundraiser in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation with raffles, bubbles and a pink themed afternoon tea. There were some fabulous outfits there and a lot of laughs in the photobooth. And best of all, Mondo managed to raise over $10 000 for the cause – Brilliant!

Ok, I’m off to perfect my snowman (right now it’s more of a snowblob) – If you’re looking to reward all of this winter braving with a well deserved mid winter Christmas party, don’t forget, having Photo Booth Fun along for the ride will up the fun factor one hundred percent and give you a lasting memento of the merriment!

Stay warm Christchurch!
