Being the Regional Manager for Hawkes Bay, co-ordinating and working at awesome events and celebrations in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the greater Hawkes Bay area (even in Taupo, Palmerston North, Gisborne and beyond) is so much fun! Taranaki is going to ROCK in 2014!

Happy New Year! We hope you all had an amazing festive season and an unforgettable New Year!

The Taranaki Photo Booth Fun team are so excited about what 2014 means for us! When we look through our calendar we see many weddings at some very cool venues from here to Wanganui (yes we cover Wanganui too)!!  We also see some great functions and events that look like they are going to be awesome! The good news is we love what we do and would work every day if we could so yes there are still dates available and we would love to hear from you! We’re sure that all 2014 events are going to rock but they will rock just that little bit more with Photo Booth Fun there – we know this because we are always receiving beautiful feedback!

A great end to 2013

Happy New Year everyone – Yep, the year has flown by and we’ve had a ball (and attended a quite a few as well!). Congratulations to our first South Island happy couples for 2014, Lee and Natalie, and James and Julia. Both couples wed on the 4th Jan in scenic South Canterbury and we were quite happy to kick of 2014 in such beaut locations :)

The Christchurch team had a fabulous time with the photo booth over the Christmas period – We had balls, weddings, company Xmas dos,  festive carol evenings and we were even lucky enough to bring our special brand of fun along to the Child Cancer Foundation’s 2013 Christmas party – And who did we have trying out props and striking poses with the best of them but my favourite Crusader and All Black, Kieran Read – Of course, lots of people wanted photos with him!  Now  as we all know, having a turn or two in the booth is not exactly a hard task, but what a good sport (excuse the pun)! Although, this champ didn’t come close to beating some of our bride’s records for longest non-stop stint in the booth!

I’m looking forward to what 2014 has to offer – We’re full swing into wedding season now so bring it on!

How many people can you fit in the Photo Booth..?

This is a question we get asked quite a bit, usually by people wanting to fit like 5 or 6 people in. Usually we laugh at this as, being a Nationwide company, it is the source of a fair bit of competition around the country.

So how many do you think..? is it 8..? nah that’s easy… T131006-501what about 9..?IMG_0273or 10 maybe..?IMG_0484Actually given that all 3 of these shots were taken at the Gymsports National Championships this month in Hawkes Bay I’d say that’s getting pretty easy too.

The record up until this weekend was 13 set in the Hawkes Bay Booth last year (and I believe equalled in other regions since) I say up until this weekend because I believe this one taken in Hastings last night smashes it out of the park!T131019-501I’ll leave the counting to you but I have to say it’s a pretty impressive effort and once again set in the Hawkes Bay booth. An idyllic Christchurch wedding

I love seeing all the elements of a wedding come together on the big day – So much goes into planning all the details; it can be a stressful time but the pay off is so worth it. The wedding blog 100 Layer Cake recently featured a beautifully put together autumn wedding that we attended here in Christchurch. The photographer, Andrea Seymour, got a great snap of our photo booth looking cosily idyllic in the garden gazebo at the fabulous Trents Estate Vineyard – This was before the guests arrived of course as it was non-stop action in there once it was spotted!

“While we were out in the fields chasing the light and dancing in the sunset for our photos, our lovely guests were entertained by live acoustic music, served delicious canapés, and enjoyed some fun with our photobooth. We set up our guest book beside the photobooth so our guests could put one photo strip in the book and write us a little message.”    Samantha – Bride.

The photo booth is a perfect element to include in your celebrations – Either giving the guests something entertaining to do while you’re away getting photos or as an addition to the fun of the reception. Either way, we guarantee it’ll be one of the ingredients which go into making your wedding super enjoyable and memorable.

Did you know our photobooths can travel?

Yep “Big Red” aka Elmo, jumps on a Mainfreight truck most weeks getting between our Regions in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Christchurch covering all the events we might not otherwise have been able to do without him.

So even if you’re thinking about last-minute bookings, don’t hesitate to contact Suze in our administration department with your enquiry.  Suze has a background in the travel industry so she has no trouble creating an itinerary for Big Red.  He’s been all over New Zealand so maybe the next event he’s at will be yours.

We love Big Red as he’s been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki with us.  He’s been to school balls, corporate functions, weddings, birthdays, engagements and hen and bachelor parties.

He’s a super-hero in our Photobooth Fun team!

Speaking of our super heroes…here’s our super-groom Jonathan from this weekend’s gig.  Congratulations to Jonathan who married his own Lois Lane (Kelli-Brooke) this weekend.

How Long Did That Take?

We’ve had an amazing summer witnessing marriages, people celebrating their age, Balloons Over Waikato, expos and School Balls. We’ve been all through the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki. We’ve set up the booth in barns, in tents, on a boat, in gardens and under trees. We’ve looked up to mountains, across lakes, over hills and out to the ocean. Now as the leaves take on their autumnal colours, and winter looms around the seasonal corner, one starts to feel like slowing down.

So on a rainy day; snuggled up and watching the original Karate Kid, we were amused to see a Photo Booth (circa 1980’s). Then we were horrified to see it took 4 1/2 whole minutes for the photo strips to print!
All I can say is thank goodness we’ve shaved a good 3+ minutes off that! A reduction of 1 minute every decade is certainly not the greatest feat in technology but it sure means a lot to us here at Photobooth Fun.

So here’s the shot to prove how patient we were back in the 80’s and a reminder of why Ralph Macchio was such a babe in his day…

From happy couples to helicopters – Just another month in Chch!

Once again the month has flown by – And what a month it’s been!

We were pleased to have our booth back at The great NZ Bridal Show in Christchurch this year- Wow, what a day! We met so many lovely couples and had a great time showing everyone the fun of our photo booth. There were a lot of curious looks from passers-by at the squeals and giggles and  coming from behind the curtain – we’re so glad so many of you stopped by to have a turn of your own. And congratulations to Toni, the winner of our Expo prize – Well done!

Of course, having a turn in the booth is unrivalled fun, but something that often gives it a good run for its money is watching it all happen from the outside – listening to the sounds of hilarity coming from within the booth and seeing all the feet shuffling about to make their next pose is pretty amusing.  So a lot of fun was had by those both in and out of the booth at the BDO conference in Queenstown – We had two booths, a heap of fun props and lots of attempts to beat the most people in the booth at one time record so I’m sure you can imagine the laughs on both sides of the curtain.

And as well as meeting so many cool people at the BDO conference, our trip to Queenstown was made so much easier by our friends, the functions team and the staff at the Millennium Hotel – Those guys are so helpful and efficient and coupled with the excellent amenities and amazing setting, I would recommend them to anyone as a fantastic conference venue.

Last weekend we were proud to be part of the Air Rescue & Emergency Services Open Day, a brilliant day with so many fun things to see and do (who got to ride in the helicopter?!) and an excellent turnout. These guys provide such an important service to the public, it was great to see so  many people coming along to show their support. And the weather showed its support of this amazing organisation too by staying fine all day! Lets hope for more of the same as we head into the last month of Autumn..

What a busy month we’ve had…..

…..here in the City of Sails!

April always means the Grand Wedding Show which is a fabulous day out for brides and their friends and once again we met hundreds of people super excited about our fabulous photo booth, top quality photo strips and wonderfully friendly staff (we’re not modest at all!!)

We also met some awesome folk at Convene – these scary looking guys are from First Scene in Kingsland – New Zealand’s largest prop and costume hire company!!

     

We recently attended the Senior College of New Zealand Ball Show with Astra Bridal.  Astra Bridal have some amazing gowns so check out their website for the latest in ball gown fashion.

If this young lady becomes NZs next top model we’d like you all to know that we spotted her first!!

Of course school ball season is almost upon us and there is still time to book our school ball package – just email info@photoboothfun.co.nz with your school ball date and we’ll see what we can do!

Don’t forget we also do awesome birthday parties, weddings and corporate functions – whatever you need we are happy to provide.

We are also super excited about the changes to the marriage law – we’ve done a few Civil Unions in the past so some more weddings would be wonderful – and how cool was Maurice Williamson?!!

It’s been a month of variety here in Christchurch; the warmer months are always a busy time for weddings but that doesn’t mean we can’t fit other events in as well! The start of March saw us at the Twilight Vintage Market held at the Pallet Pavillion – Another fantastic Gap Filler project and one I’ll be sad to see go. Hopefully we will be back at the Twilight Market before the end of April so keep an eye out.

 

 

We had a great day at Orana Park for the Radio Network’s 2013 Family Day – It’s pretty amazing being set up in amongst all the animals – I’m pretty sure the monkeys were hoping for a turn to pose but the booth ran non-stop with all the family fun so there was no chance for them!

 

I love seeing the season change from summer to autumn in Christchurch – The colours are just spectacular everywhere you look.  Of course it does go hand in hand with a drop in temperature which is definitely kicking in now. Brrrrr! Although, I don’t know about you but I think I’ve almost been looking forward to some wintery weather – A nice excuse to cosy up on the couch with a DVD or two.  And of course, the arrival of autumn doesn’t mean an end to the fun; celebrations aren’t limited to the summer months (thankfully!). In fact, school ball season will be upon us before you know it and we’re booking up fast so get in touch if you want to be part of the fun!
