My First Wedding Season

IMG_0572

If you scroll back through this blog enough you’ll probably find other posts similar to this from past Wellington Managers – but here’s my version.

I get to go to a few weddings in my life. I’ve had one batch of friends hitched and the next, slightly younger wave is starting the process now but as they are my friends the weddings are all sorta the same. We are a group of people with similar backgrounds and similar interests and tastes. But since embarking on my first wedding season with Photobooth Fun I’ve seen a lot more! I’ve been to big cook Island weddings with dancing and singing, rocker weddings with tattoos, piercings and partial nudity and quite a few in between. Its a real chance to see how different people celebrate and to be part of those celebrations.

Thanks folks – for inviting us in and letting us make your special day a little more special.

And roll on the rest of the wedding season – I can’t wait to see what I’ll find

Well, what a year it has been!!!  2013 has been an incredible year for us …. our massively busy bookings calender has seen us grow both in new staff and in brand new booths!  We have been at some fantastic events and loved every minute of them!

As the curtains begin to close on 2013, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our superstar operators – Adam, Alex, Carla, Sai, Sarah & Vivian – you guys absolutely rock and we couldn’t ask for a better team.

And of course we want to thank YOU!  The people that have used us over the past year and shared your special day / event with us.  We have loved working with you all and hope to see you again in 2014 – its going to be another AWESOME year!

On behalf of the Auckland crew, we wish you all a safe, happy and festive Christmas.  We look forward to 2014 and hope to be coming to a party with you again soon.

In the build up to Christmas, there’s nothing like a good party to get everyone in the festive mood. This month we were proud to support The Radio Network’s Special Children’s Christmas Party here in Christchurch – A very special event which provides an unforgettable experience for disabled and disadvantaged children in our community.

And what a day it was, there were so many fun things to see and do and the photobooth ran non-stop – All that laughter coming from behind the curtain was contagious and it was great to see smiles on the faces of those patiently queuing for a turn.

It was a real privilege to be a part of this fantastic day, I met so many lovely families and had a ball watching all the fun.

We have lots more Christmas parties coming up  this month and I look very forward to seeing some of that Christmas cheer snapped in the photo booth.

Season’s greetings from Canterbury!

A photo strip that means a little more than most

IMG_0375This time of year brings all sorts of folk into the Photobooth – its Christmas after all. One of the coolest things we get to do is help out charities and combine this with Christmas and you’ve got good vibes all round. Already this Christmas we’ve had the real privilege of having a Photobooth at the Child Cancer Foundation Christmas Party in Wellington. They are a great charity that don’t quite get the funds that some of the other charities do but they do fantastic work supporting the whole family of kids who have or have had cancer.

And at a party like this a Photobooth strip is a little more important. Its often a record of a family together in tough times, or having survived tough times. The number of times we heard kids being told – “This is a family photo for Mummy” brought it home. These are families for whom memories are really very important.

What was also amazing to hear was how many families still had their strip from last year’s party and were creating a little collection of memories.

We wish all those folk plenty of happy memories to come and a big thanks for having us along as part of the celebrations.

You can be part of their celebrations too by helping out kiwi kids with cancer this Christmas by clicking here

Making a difference ….

With the festive season just around the corner, its becoming a very busy time for us here at Photo Booth Fun!  Not only are we busy with birthdays, weddings and Christmas parties, we have also been involved with some amazing (and hugely worthwhile) charities.

Last month we were part of the Ronald McDonald House 19th birthday celebrations.  A wonderful night hosted by TVNZ, which saw children and their families enjoy a delicious meal and a great night of entertainment.  The team at Ronald McDonald House do such an amazing job and really do make a difference to all those families going through very tough times.

At the start of November we were very proud to be part of a Family Fun day in the Park with Bellyful (a group of amazing volunteers who provides meals for families with newborn babies, and for families who are struggling with illness).  The weather was kind to us, which meant there was a fantastic turnout and it was a very successful day.

Here’s some of the feedback we have had from these events:

“Thank you so much for all of your help and for being a part of the event – you guys were a huge hit!”
Kylie (Fundraising Coordinator – Bellyful East Auckland)

“It is wonderful having you come into the house.  The families and staff absolutely love it”
Karin (Operations Manager – Ronald McDonald House)

Over the next month, we will be doing more work with the Ronald McDonald House, along with Make-A-Wish and CanTeen – and we cant wait!  We will be sure to let you know how it all goes.

Until next time, enjoy the sunshine and keep on smiling!

Coming to an event near you….

We are always so proud of our staff here at Photobooth Fun Waikato/Bay of Plenty as they’re the “faces” of our business. They’ve been to many a venue and helped hundreds of people take thousands of great photos.

Our summer calendar is filling fast so we’re taking on more operators to continue providing our great service.
How do we interview our applicants? Why we throw them photo booth of course! As an operator it’s not unusual to be requested for a photo opportunity.

We’ve still got some free dates for your last minute Christmas bookings so don’t think it’s too late to have us at your party. Keep a lookout for our new staff…they’re coming to an event near you.

1, 2, 3 Kiss

123kiss

A veteran client pointed this out the other night – every third frame in a 4 frame strip with a couple has them kissing. At Photobooth Fun we thought we’d bring a bit of rigorous science to bear and so we checked some of our recent gigs and she was right!

Whether its a family kiss, a romantic kiss or a friendly one it takes until the third frame for people to get up the courage to do what they’ve secretly been wanting to do from the moment they stepped in the booth – plant a kiss on someone!

Rubbish you say!

Well the proof’s in the pudding (Christmas pudding at this time of the year). Why don’t you call us up, hire a booth and put the science to the test.

And get a smooch or two while you are at it!

To prop or not to prop..

Now although we’re never short of people eager to jump in the booth and do their thing, there are always one or two of a more reserved nature who can take some persuading. Generally once in, the magic of the booth takes over and everybody is soon an addict but for the photo-shy, stepping into the booth can feel like the beginnings of an intrepid journey.

That’s where props can come in handy. There’s nothing like a disguise to sway the reticent poser. Our fantastic collection of props can take someone from cautious to camera ready in a matter of moments and once they’re in, they’re usually hooked!

And of course, it’s not only the shy ones who enjoy dressing up; Fake beards and mustaches, silly hats and glasses, bunny ears, bows, wigs and masks – Whatever the guise, our props are guaranteed to bring out some great poses and create big laughs! We even have Christmas themed props for that Xmas party to really help bring on the festive mood.

I love finding props for our Christchurch collection and I love seeing the different looks people create – Whether it’s a full blown disguise or just adding a touch, everyone has their own style and everyone has fun!

It’s A&P Show time in Taranaki!

The A & P Show is a bit of a major for the rural community! The Egmont Agricultural & Pastoral Association has been established in Hawera since 1883 so it is fair to say it is well and truly part of the Hawera and wider Taranaki community.

This year the show will be held on the 15th and 16th of November and will have the very cool theme of Music Madness! Photo Booth Fun will be joining in the madness in the Kidzone – we can’t wait!

The show hosts a large trade area showcasing local and out of town businesses, entertainment, cattle, equestrian events, rides, live music and so so so much more…and let’s not forget our awesome photo booth!

The A & P Show really is so much fun for the whole family – I mean really who doesn’t love animals and rides! The Taranaki team would love to see you and the kids in our booth so come and see us!
